- FINANCIAL AID SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES FOR AY 21-22
- If you or your family are directly impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic and
will be attending MCLA in the fall of 2021 or spring of 2022, you are able to complete
a Special Circumstance Appeal for Financial Aid. Impact includes, but is not limited
to, loss of employment, reduced income, and/or changes in expenses due to COVID-19.
- A completed Special Circumstance Appeal will determine if there is any increase to
eligibility for certain financial aid programs.
- If you believe this applies to you, Students logged into the myMCLA Portal can complete
a Special Circumstance Appeal electronically (recommended) or a .pdf is available here.
- STUDENT LOAN BORROWERS
-
All federal student loan borrowers have been placed on an Emergency Forbearance effective
March 13, 2020 through April 30, 2022. Additionally, the interest rate for all federal
student loans was reduced to 0% effective March 13, 2020 through April 30, 2022.
- Please note that the CARES Act only applies to federal student loans, such as the
Direct Subsidized Student Loan, the Direct Unsubsidized Student Loan, the Direct Parent Plus Loan, and the Perkins Loan. Private loans are not covered by the CARES Act, however, students and families are
strongly encouraged to reach out to their private loan servicer (if applicable) for
assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- If you are unsure of who your loan servicer is or if your loans are federal or private,
please contact Lori Keating, the Student Loan Coordinator, at L.Keating@mcla.edu.
